Block-to-Bag Sewing Workshop
- 120 US dollars$120
- 417 West Broad Street, Suite 100
Service Description
In this class you will construct your own quilt block tote bag. You can make the entire quilted bag pictured, by signing up for both parts of the class, or join us in class 2 with your own fully prepped panels! Test out a new fun block or experiment with any surface design panel to create a one-of-a-kind tote bag! This is a two-part class; participants may sign up for both parts or Part 2 only. In part 1 we will learn how to create our own log cabin blocks, discussing mixing materials, design layout choices and color theory. We will fully prep our front and back bag panels including interfacing, quilting, adding pockets, handles and embellishments. Class 1 will be 2.5 hours. In part 2 we will construct our quilted tote bags. Participants should come to the class with all the materials necessary for the bag construction ready to sew according to the pattern instructions. This class will demonstrate the full bag assembly and some different design choices, including different types of handles, ribbon edging, quilted side and bottom panels, and resizing your bag to fit any size dimensions. Class members will sew their own bag and walk out with a completed tote. Class 2 will be 2.5 hours. You will receive your bag pattern instructions prior to the class in order to prepare. This an advanced beginner, intermediate class and will require you to bring your own sewing machine. Class materials for the full log cabin bag will be included in the cost for part 1 of the class. Part 2 will not include a materials fee. You may purchase materials including interfacing, ribbon, and bag strap handles at the store as desired. Class members receive a 15% discount.
